Composed in December 2022, BREAKWATER is a short overture for chamber orchestra, inspired by the course of a river flowing into the sea. The music begins softly with a muted soundscape, but gradually picks up momentum as it runs its course, symbolising the river's journey as it hurtles coast-wards to meet the sea. The seascape of Plymouth guided my creative process, envisioning the River Tamar meeting the Plymouth Sound and English Channel.
