Kingfishers is a setting of 'As Kingfishers Catch Fire' by Gerard Manley Hopkins. This short anthem for choir SATB and organ invites listeners into a bright but mysterious sound world, evoking the mystery of God's creations as depicted in Hopkins' verses. The music opens with a sparkling organ ostinato, setting the stage for a rhythmic melody which bounces through the lower and upper voices, gradually building to a brief moment of climax.
