Moonrise takes two nocturnal poems by Sara Teasdale, tracing the quiet turning of day into night, beginning the golden hush of sundown and drawing gentle in to the pale glow of moonlight. My piano writing uses a sound world of soft arpeggiated figures-inviting a degree of interpretative freedom in the pacing of each spread, whether rendered as shimmering ripples or more immediate gestures.
